Evolving Public Culture

This book begins with a conversation around public culture. How do we create an evolutionary public space which reflects our desire for a better world? How do we create coherence in a sea of social chaos? How can we move from digital abuse to digital intimacy and transform the internet into an expression of the genuine nervous system of our humanity? This book invites us to explore elements of the necessary digital foundations for an emergent culture of Eros. This book lays down a vision for a world in which we are all evolutionary partners, awakening to the joy and responsibility of this moment in history. Public culture is the place where we play out either the depths our private refinement or swamp of our shame. Healing the depth of our personal and cultural shame is therefore indispensable for creating a sacred public culture. As such, we explore through multiple doors the roots of our wounding and shame. One key is to look at the way we coil, clench, and contract, guarding our hearts due to painful prior experiences. It is necessary to work with the wounds of the past, but this by itself is insufficient. This is but the first step. Through transforming and healing our shame and wounding we liberate the driving power of activism. This is the path of transforming our personal and collective crisis. Our crisis becomes a birth. This process of transformation into Unique Self is love in action itself. Living your Unique Self is an affront to shame. Being together as Outrageous Lovers, as evolutionary mystics, as Unique Selves in Unique Self Symphonies, is the seedbed of a new culture of love. Barbara Marx Hubbard (born Barbara Marx; December 22, 1929–April 10, 2019) was an American futurist, author, and public speaker. She is credited with the Wheel of Co-Creation and together with Dr. Gafni, the Wheel of Co-Creation 2.0, as well as the concepts of the Synergy Engine and the “birthing” of humanity. As co-founder and president of the Foundation for Conscious Evolution and the chair, for the last five years of her life, of the Center for World Philosophy and Religion, she posited that humanity was on the threshold of a quantum leap if newly emergent scientific, social, and spiritual capacities were integrated to address global crises. She was the author of seven books on social and planetary evolution. In conjunction with the Shift Network, she co-produced the worldwide “Birth 2012” multimedia event. She was also the subject of a biography by author Neale Donald Walsch, The Mother of Invention: The Legacy of Barbara Marx Hubbard, and the Future of “YOU”. Deepak Chopra called her “the voice for conscious evolution.” In 1984, she was symbolically nominated for the vice presidency of the United States. She also co-chaired a number of Soviet-American Citizen Summits, introducing a new concept called SYNCON, to foster synergistic convergence with opposing groups. In addition, she co-founded the World Future Society and the Association for Global New Thought.
